The Detroit Pistons have been in the hands of American billionaire Tom Gores since 2011. After two name changes, starting in 1941 as the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons and then changing to Fort Wayne Pistons in 1948, the Pistons have been known as the Detroit Pistons since 1957. The club has won the title three times so far (1989, 1990, 2004).
