Founded in 1946 by Eddie Gottlieb as the Philadelphia Warriors, the Warriors were one of the founding members of the NBA. The current name refers to the US state of California, which is named after the gold rush of 1849. The championship has been won six times (1947, 1956, 1975, 2015, 2017, 2018).
